Our team is comprised of industry leaders with deep backgrounds in steel, logistics, finance and technology and together we work tirelessly to improve safety, quality, service, and the lives of the people we are proud to call our family.

Dennis Mullin

Chairman

Dennis joined SPS in 1972 to work on Steel and Pipe Supply’s first computer system.  Within two short years Dennis was promoted to Financial VP. Over the next 21 years Dennis managed numerous areas of Steel and Pipe Supply’s commercial and financial operations. In 1995 Dennis was named President of Steel and Pipe Supply followed by CEO in 1999 and became Chairman in 2009.

Dennis has never believed that what we did yesterday to be successful will be enough to survive tomorrow. Because of this, Dennis’s decades of leadership with SPS are marked by unprecedented growth through diversification and innovation. Dennis’s vision has created the SPS of today and his leadership has developed a strong team to ensure the SPS of the future.

Matt Crocker

Chief Executive Officer

Matt joined Steel & Pipe in 2005 as Vice President of Warehousing.  Prior to assuming the role of CEO, Matt became Executive Vice President with responsibilities for Purchasing, Human Resources, IT, Finance, Warehousing, and Logistics.

His prior experience includes roles in finance, risk management and business development at Koch Industries Inc. in Wichita and Houston, Aquila, Inc. in Kansas City and Citadel Investment Group LLC in Chicago.

Matt currently serves on several community boards including the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, the Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund Advisory Board, the Mercy Foundation Board, the College of Business Graduate Studies Advisory Board, and The First Tee of Manhattan.

Dirk Daveline

Vice President/Chief Financial Officer

Dirk joined SPS in 1993 and has served the company over the years as Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, and now Chief Financial Officer where he oversees all accounting, audit and compliance functions for the company.

Dirk is a trustee for the Goldstein and Robinson Charitable Trusts and has served in officer positions on many charitable organizations in the Manhattan area during his career.  He currently serves on board for the Flint Hills Breadbasket and is on his third match within the Big Brothers organization.

Tia Schmitt

Vice President Financial Planning and Analysis

Tia joined SPS in 2011 as Finance Manager prior to her current role of Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis where she is  responsible for the Financial Planning, Reporting, and Analysis functions.  

Prior to joining SPS, Tia held a variety of Finance positions over 13 years with Bank of America and Bridgestone/Firestone.

John Simon

Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer

John joined SPS in 2005 as the Vice President of Sales for EXLTUBE.  In 2015 John transitioned to a new role as Chief Strategy Officer.  In this role John oversees M & A activity, commercial risk management activities and supports the business units in developing strategy and actions to achieve their goals.

John grew up in a steel making family.  He worked in the several aspects of steel manufacturing and processing during summer breaks in college.  Prior to joining SPS John worked in international steel trading in Hong Kong and New York and served in several commercial positions at the Copperweld Corporation, both in the United States and Canada.

John is active in leadership roles in several industry associations. Past associations include the Steel Tube Institute, AISC and CPTI and most notably at MSCI as the Vice President of the Tubular Products Council.

Corey Kephart

Vice President of Human Resources

Corey joined SPS as Vice President of Human Resources in 2014.  In his role, Corey oversees all aspects of corporate human resources including leadership development, talent management, organization development, employee relations, benefits and payroll administration, HR systems, and safety programs.

Corey brings more than 18 years of HR and personnel leadership to SPS from his prior roles with UMB, Black & Veatch, Embarq and Sprint.

Bill Snyder

Group President

Bill joined SPS in 2016 as Executive Vice President of EXLTUBE. He was later promoted to President of EXLTUBE, followed by increasing his responsibilities as Group President. As Group President, in addition to EXLTUBE, Bill assumed responsibility for US Wholesale in Holiday, Florida and Tubular USA in St. Louis, Missouri. Subsequent to the sale of EXLTUBE in December of 2022, Bill continued his leadership role with US Wholesale and Tubular USA, and also assumed responsibility for Energy Steel Products in Houston, Texas. US Wholesale and Tubular USA are specialty tubing distributors and Energy Steel Products is a master distributor of stainless bar products.

Prior to joining SPS Bill held commercial and general management roles with AK Steel in Middletown, Ohio and American Spring Wire in Bedford Heights, Ohio
